Kris Daz-Taylor
Kris’ love of yoga began almost by accident 15 years ago after joining a weight loss and fitness challenge. A lifelong athlete, she immediately appreciated the physical benefits yoga provided. But as her journey progressed, she began to understand, appreciate and rely on the emotional and psychological benefits supplied by her personal practice.
With an extensive background in clinical psychology and psychiatry she saw a way to bring mind and body together in ways that she had never thought possible. Her curious nature and drive for uncovering how the body and mind worked together led to a change in career fields from diagnostics, therapeutics and research to the wonderful world of wellness.
After moving to Germany, Kris began working as a health educator within the Heidelberg Army Wellness Center where she applied her knowledge of psychology and yoga to revamp the clinic’s Stress and Biofeedback programs. During her time in Germany, Kris became a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor offering a myriad of classes to active duty soldiers, wounded warriors, retirees and civilians. Her playful, heart centered attitude resonated with the teachers and administration for DODea schools in Baumholder, Germany where she regularly taught yoga to the staff and students alike.
Throughout her time in Europe, Kris developed several community yoga programs and became the go to person for myofascial release techniques, meditation and personalized injury rehab. Upon moving back to the US, Kris re-entered the medical field as a Behavior and Fitness Coach within a private Bariatric practice where she offered group and one-on-one services to patients. Her unique style of coaching integrated a mind body spirit approach allowing her to serve her clients unique needs as individuals.
Kris moved to Galveston in August of 2021 where Island Salt Air soon became her yoga home. In January 2022 Kris was thrilled to join the ISA team as an instructor.
Kris completed her 200TT in 2012 through Yandara Yoga Institute’s resident program. Her passion for travel and experiencing other cultures led her to seek out workshops and trainings all over the world allowing her to study with a number of international yogis. Currently she is scheduled to finish her 500TT in 2022 and continues to pursue training in yoga therapy and power yoga. In her spare time Kris enjoys photography, creating art, swimming, cycling and soaking up the sun with her beloved dog Mario.
